Quote from Spydertrader:

I would visit the Wealth-Lab.com Web Site Version of the Hershey Chartscript, type in TASR, and click Execute Chartscript. Scrolling down the page to the area below the chart provides these values for you.

If you insisted on performing the operations by hand, do the following:

Average Dry Up *(0.4986) = X

Average Dry Up + X = High Band
Average Dry Up - X = Low Band

FRV = DU*3
Peak Volume = FRV*2
I use Average Dry Up to Calculate FRV and Peak Volume Levels. Again, The Wealth-Lab.com Web Site Version of the Hershey Chartscript performs these calculations automatically. A full description of how the ChartScript calculates these methods is explained in the ChartScript Description.

Thank You Spyder!!!

This is precisely what I needed to duplicate the work. I am a bit old fashioned in that I like to know what the formula is in the off chance that there is no calculator around.

I feel much better now:D :D

Best Regards

Hey SpyderTrader, what value off the wealth-labs page do you use as "Rank"?

I can't seem to find it anywere... :(

Thanks, and my appologies if this has been answered already!

Once you type in a symbol and click Execute ChartScript, the Score and Rank appear in blue text on he upper right side of the Chart Main Pane. If the stock has no Rank, the word None appears next to the word Rank.

For easier viewing of the Chart, register at Wealth-Lab.com Web Site (It's Free) and adjust your personal settings to show fewer bars in the Main Pane Window. Be sure to Login each visit in order to insure your new personal settings apply to that Chartscript. You may also want to click the "Bookmark This Chartscript" link to save the Hershey Chartscript for future visits.

Thanks so much Spyder,

I've been reading this journal for a long time and I'd like to say that I immensely appreciate all your hard work, as much as I appreciate the patience and understanding to us newbs.

For those of you who are blind like me, it's actually on the chart image, so using a text search and what-not will not find it. I'm sure everyone knows this by now tho...

Thanks again!

2005-07-11, Monday - Update

This morning, I monitored one list of stocks (5 total equities): Those equities from our daily Hot List and from our Final Universe List finding themselves "In Dry Up."

Dry Up Stocks

DCAI FORD JMDT JUPM TASR

Our system generated four possible trade signals from the list of five Dry Up Stocks when actual volume exceeded calculated "Low Band" Dry Up Volume prior to 11:30 AM.

Dry Up Stocks Triggering Signal

EZPW JUPM FORD VDSI

Dry Up Stocks NOT Triggering Signal

TASR

EZPW DID show price improvement ($11.64) at time of signal generation (10:04 AM). In addition, MACD Histogram showed a positive return (+.0186). However, The Stochastic Indicator fell below desired levels (71.4388). As a result, I took no action with respect to trading EZPW.

JUPM DID show price improvement ($19.57) at time of signal generation (10:04 AM). In addition, MACD Histogram showed a positive return (+.1128). In addition, The Stochastic Indicator fell above desired levels (82.0934). As a result, I entered into a long position with 1000 shares of JUPM.

FORD DID show price improvement ($20.07) at time of signal generation (10:10 AM). In addition, MACD Histogram showed a positive return (+.4901). Also, The Stochastic Indicator fell above desired levels (95.2377). As a result, I entered into a long position with 1000 shares of FORD.

VDSI DID show price improvement ($10.24) at time of signal generation (11:05 AM). In addition, MACD Histogram showed a positive return (+.0079). Also, The Stochastic Indicator fell below desired levels (53.3718). As a result, I took no action with respect to trading VDSI.

I continue to hold all shares of MFLX.

spyder,

did you mean DCAI instead of VDSI? Looks like DCAI had a nice run up. I saw you had DCAI in Dry up and nothing about VDSI. sorry if I missed something and am asking an ignorant question, just got a little confused as to tracking VDSI and not DCAI Thanks again for your continued effort on your journal.

Jerry2005

DCAI was not in dry up because previous day volume was 367,000, almost triple upper band dry up levels. VDSI was in dry up because previous volume was 194,000, less than the upper band of 275,000.

The dry-up levels are calculated with volume not price action.

Spyder..correct if I am wrong.

Kevin,
I understand that dryup is calculated on volume and not price. their has only been about a thousand posts saying that. what I was referring to was the post on friday evening showing what was in spyders dry up post. He showed DCAI in dryup and VDSI with a score of 4. On his follow up today he showed DCAI in dryup and not VDSI. Yet he showed VDSI as triggering a signal. All I wanted to know was where did VDSI come from? I Don't recall seeing it anywhere except Fridays post with a score of 4. You answered the question regarding why it wasn't in dryup I didn't think that was the question I asked but I appreciate you answering that with the volume figures you had for it. thank you

No I meant VDSI. I use a template for posting to the Journal and I forgot to double check my post. Today's Dry Up Stocks should have been EZPW, FORD, JUPM, TASR & VDSI. I apologize for my typographical error, and thank you for bringing the discrepancy to my attention permitting me to clarify. I hope my discrepancy did not cause too much confusion.
