I only see 7 stocks listed in the final universe at this link
http://www.mbtrading.com/K9/K9.asp. Is this the complete list?

The Automated Dry Up Calculator Web Page list at the Mbtrading.com web site contains stocks derived using the "Test Culling" Method described in previous posts. You may recall that the "Test Culling" Method eliminates the creation of three lists (sevens - ones -zeros) and creates a Hotlist (the list on the MBTrading.com web site) by looking only at stocks with rank culled from the stocktables.com daily sort. The "Test Culling" method does not 'save' these stocks into a Final Universe List. I apologize for the confusion.

Sydertrader, have you heard about the Nasdaq early morning trading sessions about to implemented?

http://www.nasdaqtrader.com/Trader/News/2005/headtraderalerts/hta2005-011.stm

I'm a little concerned about how this new type of trading environment will affect things, given that most of the stocks we trade are through the Nasdaq system.

Depending on how much volume occurs in these stocks pre-market now, I'm thinking it could take away from the 9:30-11:30am volume surge we look for when trading dry-up stocks.

Also, I wonder if data providers will start reporting this pre-market volume for the end of day totals. Hmmm.

I thought I might ask what your thoughts are about this new situation and how it might affect trading this type of system.

I know a big part of successfull trading involves adapting yourself and your system to the current environment, so this should be interesting, or it could turn out to be nothing. I dunno.

Scottrade & Qcharts already incorporate pre-market volume into their daily totals, and while I cannot speak for every data source, I suspect most data providers do so as well. Unless an overnight, or early morning, news item of substantial importance occurs, we normally don't have loads of orders occurring pre-market. While any change in market dynamics within the NASDAQ trading environment has the potential to effect how we trade, speculation on how, or if, these changes might effect performance, would be pure speculation on my part. Comparing the pre-market volume we currently experience with the Hershey Universe to pre-market volume occurring after NASDAQ's alteration of the pre-market dynamic, provides a means by which we can determine what changes (if any) we need to make with our methodology. Should a significant 'shift' in volume occur from the 'out-cry' hours of 9:30 AM - 4:00 PM into pre-market trading, we will simply adapt our trading style accordingly and begin to monitor price and volume earlier in the day.

OMGoodness... I have nearly lost my breath... I saw jack in these boards... This is great!

Also for the record, I've pulled the trigger and I'm doing it for real! 1 Day of loss (the first day when you realize your own emotions - fear factoresque), all the rest profitable... I'm in the High beta world intraday which jack sparsely spoke of but needless to say, I get what is essentially the quintessential core after relentless debriefing; continuation vs change (first derivative <> 0; first derivative = 0). To the PM'ers, I'll get to you. I've taken the back road, which is intraday and the dumping into swings. I've managed to do some scrubbing down of the ES stuff people were getting trapped on... I can't wait to quit my dayjob... Spyder, I'm still working on your request, I haven't forgotten. Just not enough after hours after working these 100+ hour weeks in corporate america.

:D

Jack returned to posting last Thursday, and judging from the tone (and length) of his posts, he appears to be in good health. I sent him a note (PM through the ET Web Site) once again inviting him to post in our Journal. Good to see Jack back.

I wish for you continued success as you progress, and look forward to the day you join the ranks of fulltime traders.

Thx spyder. I absolutely look forward to getting to the stage of enabling others full time as you and jack have. My only fear now is quitting my day job... :D I have a vested and unvested interest there.
