How does this compare to yours Spydertrader?

Your list remains identical to the one I use with one exception. I do not have BTUI. According to Qcharts, BTUI has a negative value for EPS. As a result, BTUI has yet to make it onto my Final Universe List.

I also had HANS as part of my list of stocks (in addition to the ones you listed) in Dry Up this morning. However, as you correctly observed, not one stock had an actual volume exceed Low Band Dry Up Volume prior to 11:30 AM.

bdolnik,

You show BTUI as a stock in your final universe but when I checked it I thought it had a negative EPS. I also thought a stock with a negative EPS was automatically disqualified.

Can you help me to understand this a little better? I used diluted EPS. Did I look at the wrong EPS? What I saw was -019. I am still struggling to build what I think is a good universe.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

I like clearstation since it seems to have everything (Avg Volume, Float, EPS) there on one page. The only problem is the Avg Volume is 22 trading days instead of 65. However that has not seemed to make much of a difference so far.

Thanks, that clears up alot of things. I think I am mis-interpeting the data in Yahoo finance.

Many have found Yahoo Data to be unreliable at best. The float numbers have been off since Memorial Day Weekend 2005.

Have you ever heard that AMEX stocks are the worst to trade? I dont know if it's true or not, but it's what I have heard.

Final Universe Update

I have eliminated the following stocks from the Final Universe List as of 2005-10-21: CMT IIG STV. Not coincidentally, all these stocks trade on the AMEX.

On numerous occasions, I have personally experienced the odd manner in which the AMEX conducts business. Hell'uva way to run a railroad.

Trying to understand a bit more here. When I run CMT, IIG and STV through the HER v.3.0.0, all three of these stocks currently are ranked.

I thought stocks were removed from the FUL when they no longer have a rank. Could you take a moment to clear up my confusion?

In any event, thank you Spydertrader (and of course the man himself, JH) for continuing to share with us.

Yes, They all currently have a rank. I did not remove them for failing to maintain a rank. I removed them from my Final Universe List because I no longer desire to do business with the American Stock Exchange.

You correctly observe why I normally remove a stock from the Final Universe - failure to maintain rank. However, my last three trades with these equities, although each resulted in profit, I experienced, poor execution (market orders held for a few seconds or more), oversized spreads (even on high volume) and ridiculous fills (well above or below current quotes). Such activity occurred across three different brokerage firms permitting me to conclude such activity remains endemic to the exchange rather than an individual brokerage house. As a result, I have decided to 'vote with my feet' and cease any trading activities which deal with the AMEX. Removing the equities in question from my Final Universe List prevents me from trading them - no matter how high a quality a signal I receive.
