Hi folks,

No, I'm not dead and no, I didn't make my fortune and retire to a tropical island somewhere.

I haven't seen a final universe snapshot in a while. Here's mine:

Greetings!

I've been lurking here for several days following Spydertrader's instructions re: reading the previous journal as well as this one. I completed the first journal and this one through April 2006, taking notes along the way.

I day trade the 30 year and 10 year bonds (see journal) and I'm looking to branch out. I hope to be a regular contributor to this thread.

For now, I have 2 questions to anyone who may have the answer.

I noticed that mischief has created a utility to use with amibroker. I don't use the software, however I've had my eye on it for a few years. Any comments from those who are successfully utilizing amibroker to trade this method? Does it make a difference?

Second question is directed towards those who actually trade this without looking at intraday data. Are there any people here who are doing this? I know the answer is yes. If any of you would comment on your experience doing this from an EOD standpoint, I would appreciate it. Between monitoring the credit markets, gold, corn and the S&P I don't know that I can add several stocks to watch as well on real time basis. EOD no problem.

TIA (thanks in advance)

Hello,

While I can't give any specific advice on AmiBroker, here are a few things to consider as far as charting software goes. I'm a beginner but the following is my .02...

Jack's and Spyder's methods make use of channels. So, I suggest using software that makes drawing/editing channels as effortless as possible. You should be able to draw channels in multiple fractals (in the same chart window).

If you ever get to the point of monitoring your Watch List during the day, "Unusual Volume" is pretty cool to watch/sort.

Hope this helps...

John: regarding your AmiBroker question - I am also very new to this and haven't finished reviewing all of journal 2. I use AmiBroker and have developed several tools that are very helpful for me with this approach. It is a very powerful program.

I am not really familiar with what mischief is doing but I tried to skim ahead through his posts and it looks like he has totally automated AmiBroker with his IB system to detect signals and place trades. I also saw some charts posted and reference that he had adapted the Wealth Lab scripts to AmiBroker to calculate rank.

AmiBroker's beta version can actually import Yahoo fundamental data into its database. So if you have a watchlist containing the high EPS and RS stocks (I do this with IBD), and had the code for determining Rank, you could easily process your culling steps with it. However there has often been discussions here about the reliability of Yahoo data.

Maybe mischief would post his chart and ranking/scoring coding and you could use it in a trial of AmiBroker to see what you think.

spooz,

Thanks!

Rick,

I thank you for your insight. Amibroker sounds like a wonderful package. I've used ensign for a few years, and TC2000 off and on over several years. Other than my copy of TS 2000i, it doesn't seem like I have anything in my existing software library quite like amibroker.

Your observations were very helpful.

bear in mind that representatives of software providers will take note of a thread with this many viewers.

That would be a good thing, right? One thing I've learned following this thread and also doing it myself, is that there is a lot of cutting, pasting, pointing, clicking and eyeballing involved. If a software vendor could automate the tedious parts more power to them.

I searched the TC2000 forums looking for a Jack Hershey template/add-on etc to no avail.
