Quote.com shows IAAC with a 65-day Average Volume of 185,000 shares - just below our minimal 200,000 share requirement. As a result, a strict following of the culling criteria eliminates IAAC from consideration. However, IAAC has shown a significant increase in trading activity over the last couple of months. In addition, IAAC shows 34% Insider owned shares - well above our minimum requirements. More importantly, IAAC has cycled 8 times in the last 6 months. Due to the increased trading volume, more than the minimum number of cycles and high Insider Owned shares, one could choose to 'bend the rules' ever so slightly and include IAAC in a Final Universe without too much concern.

As I understand it though FTEK is in the final Universe and it trades under 200,000 shares. Is there any reason in praticular why you include FTEK? Much was made of Friday's price move and its block trades but analyzing intraday volume moves in such a thinly traded issue seems like a futile effort IMO. I still trade stocks under 200,000 in daily volume but with much smaller position size and the charts have to be just so.
Also, I see a lot of time devoted to risk control which is important because you cannot continue your operations without it. But position sizing is also very critical. For postion sizing I always look at the float, ROE, intraday, and itraweek range, and the tightness of the chart as well as the tightness of the chart pattern. If everything is lined up perfectly I increase postion size and sometimes widen my stops to more than 2% of portfolio. When you see the perfect set up you just can't buy enough.

IAAC currently shows volume levels lower than 200,000 shares as discussed in my previous post. When FTEK entered the Final Universe, it did have a 65-day Average Volume of over 200,000 shares. Since its inclusion into the Final Universe, FTEK has seen a reduction in daily volume levels bringing its current average below minimum threshold levels. Since the only reason I remove an equity from The Final Universe involves Failure to Maintain Rank, FTEK failure to maintain average volume levels above 200,000 shares doesn't eliminate it from the current Final Universe.

A suggestion for viewing your R multiples in a different manner -
Consider all trades entered on the first day as being of type A. Use the risk parameter of Ross' Rule or 2%, which ever is greater, to determine your 1R value. At the end of the day, if you are still holding, then close out the trade, on paper, for accounting purposes.
Reopen the trade as type B, at the same price you closed it out, and use the 5% value (or stop offset) as your 1R.
It's more work - which you may or may not consider to be worth doing - but it will give you a bit more breakdown for planning and system analysis purposes.
