Quote from cnms2:

Over the last three and a half months I traded both long and short. Actually due to the overall market conditions I had more short trades, and they usually yielded better. I didn't trade retracements of uptrending channels. I traded traverses in downtrending channles, i.e. AAPL, AKAM, AMR, BA, BRCM, SNDK, QQQQ, and others. They don't satisfy the High Quality Universe requirements, but my results confirm the wider validity of Jacks concepts about channels, price-volume, MACD & Stoch indicator set, gaussians.

I know that this is outside this thread's main topics, and it was only intended as a side note to the last couple of posts about stock shorting.

Your posts re shorting are what I was referring to.As long as you think things through, you can do what you like?

but sure u cut yourself off from many good opportunities and renounce to the process of learnin' a new stock's behavior that might be useful in the future.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You can't learn the new stocks behaviour.WE learn the stocks behaviour because we culled for repeatable stocks. We don't have to learn because we already know.If you know how the market works, however,it's worth keeping an eye out for certain things. How else can you make 6400%.

Lately I've been looking for unusually high volume activity on our final universe stocks. Back around 10:00 EDT today CBEY flashed a big buy and has since had a nice run-up.

So far I'm just studying this and not trading it but it's very interesting.

I'm using Quotetracker and added the "Vol %" column to my final universe portfolio. I sort on Vol % and look for anything that sticks out with unusual volume and also shows price improvement. I'm only looking for longs right now.

I have been doing likewise steve... thanks to Spyder for mentioning that statisitic in QT. It makes it possible to sort the list from the very beginning of trading to see where the volume is going... those are the tickers that will likely be hitting LBDU first. I also use it see huge volume trades b/c that stock will start jumping up the list... it is a good indicator to check it out and see what is happening... cool stuff.

I began today sorting via Vol% in QT also... need to watch the videos again to see how Jack processes the sorted list...

Chapper, do you highlight large block trades, and if so, what minimum do you set to alert? 5000?

cheers.

Gandolph: Vol%

Select View then select Edit Views...
Scroll down the "Available Colums" to Vol%
Click on Vol%

Click on the arrow pointing right near the center of the drop down
Click OK

That should do it. Vol% has been helpful to me, enjoy.

Did anyone see the IIG signal today?

I waited 17 minutes for the next trade of 100 shares to trigger the LBDU volume alert, and did not take the trade...

Sign of things to come, as the market went south soon after...

Thanks Mischief and Whitetiger.

Sorry for not replying earlier.

Is there an EOD strategy available at all? Is it based on FRV by EOD?

Cipher

Cipher,

I believe you are correct. For EOD trading, if the stock hits FRV by EOD, then you enter during the first 30 minute period on the following day.

Cheers.
