SPX Credit Spread Trader

Does anybody know a good, inexpensive software for position simulation.
Basically, i would like to go before crash in MAY and analyze how i could have averted that loss i took. For that, i guess i need a software which lets me select a date and put on a position and then move forward trying various things.

thanks in advance

You can get a free one from 888Options.com. Here's the URL: http://www.888options.com/resources/investigator/default.jsp

Frankly, I couldn't use an instantaneous reflection. I just need something I can use to trigger an alert or possibly an order. I've an order in now to be placed when the VIX hits 14.

That's what I'm most interested in.

I believe TOS has the capability, e.g. vix hits a certain level, and you can trigger an order, or an alert.

I've opened an account at ToS. I'm just paper trading for the moment until I get used to their application. OX allows conditional trading too.

Just registered with TOS. The software is too complex for me. Spent the whole day with it and I am having headache now. Who can provide me a quick-start guide?

Yo Heather, do you prefer to be on top of things all the time, or just sometimes?

What's up with flaming Heather? If you've got something positive to contribute, offer it up. If not, be quiet and don't be rude.

Yip it took me 6 months before I began to be comfortable using it:( But then I'm a slow learner:p However I'm totally spoiled to anything else now...it is unfreakingbelievable...

and given the average age...err...IQ of the ET'er Heather will have to change her alias to Howardanderson:)

Try TOS? Click the help tab and watch the video walk throughs on the analyze page.

If you're just looking to learn the basics of trading with the platform, the first three Narrated Walkthroughs on the Help tab comprise 52 minutes of time and get you familiar with the basics. Watch and play along if possible. It's all really easy.

I learned it in about two weeks of extensive "playing with", but that's how I learn to use software. Most of what I learned is that most of the features are things I don't really need or even want, but they are there if I ever do.

That's probably it's biggest problem - It's so feature rich and complex, it's daunting to just carve away the rest and see just what you need.

I love it. From the moment I choose to enter a position, I can get a simple order to market in about 9 seconds (stock, long call or put) and a spread order submitted in about 15 seconds, and I don't even break a sweat. I still have an account at TD Ameritrade, and I HATE it. It takes me over a minute to actually get in a credit spread.

The analyze tab is also pretty amazing. It's also one of those things where you need to just decide what you want to use and ignore the rest.
