Gregg Popovich went all in on Monday as he tore into President Trump and his false claim that Barack Obama and other past presidents never called the families of fallen military operatives.
Popovich isn’t shy about his political opinions, having called Trump an embarrassment and a danger to America’s crucial institutions earlier this year. Today, after the president held his press conference with Mitch McConnell, the San Antonio Spurs coach called The Nation and offered a full-throttled denouncement of Trump:
“This man in the Oval Office is a soulless coward who thinks that he can only become large by belittling others. This has of course been a common practice of his, but to do it in this manner–and to lie about how previous Presidents responded to the deaths of soldiers–is as low as it gets. We have a pathological liar in the White House: unfit intellectually, emotionally, and psychologically to hold this office and the whole world knows it, especially those around him every day.”
Popovich also said Trump’s remarks were “beyond the pale” and that those who work with the president should bear the shame of his actions.
