Interesting exchange. Can be viewed at FOX via Breitbart, but knowing how some feel about that station, I won't waste time with a link.

Obama wants to spread the wealth: Is this socialism, or not?

"Your new tax plan is going to tax me more, isn't it?" the plumber asked, complaining that he was being taxed "more and more for fulfilling the American dream."

"It's not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they've got a chance for success too," Obama responded. "My attitude is that if the economy's good for folks from the bottom up, it's gonna be good for everybody ... I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody."
 
No comments? The guy said it. He is a redistributionist.

Maybe to some it's worth it to have a great orator in power. Not me. I admire his honesty. A family member of mine and I have often discussed the possibility of an openly socialist candidate getting elected in the current climate. Appears very likely.

How many people really believe this guy, in power with a filibuster proof congress, will not raise taxes on those under 250k? Not me, not for a minute.
 
I saw the clip. Absolutely scary.

The guy asking Hussein the question missed a golden opportunity. He should have asked NoBama why the "guy behind him" couldn't just work as hard as he does.
 
People are so disillusioned, they desperately want something to believe in. Obama fills so many unmet needs for people.

Most voters also like the idea of taking money from their better-off neighbor and giving some of it to them. They will eventually learn that you don't create prosperity through government or taxation, but the current administration certainly isn't setting any great examples for them.

He's serial liar and deceiver. His character is perhaps the worst of any man who has run for President in our lifetime. His ideology and political philosophy equally suck. Here's how it'll play. The Democratic Congress will argue for some sort of confiscatory tax package. Obama will act as centrist by coming in lower than Congress but much higher than the policies expressed in his campaign. Of course he'll acknowlege in March what he refuses to admit today: the economy has changed his ballgame. He's a Marxist, a fraud, a liar, a war monger, an incompotent legislator from a fucked up Chicago. He's what America deserves.......

I'll be honest with you AAA. I became disillusioned by the fiscal lack of responsibility by the republicans some years back, but not enough to ever vote for a socialist. My own beliefs about life, 1rst and 2nd amendments prevent that, but it sure gets old voting against candidates. Would like to vote for a candidate...just once.
 
The comment he made proves to me his past associations are relevant. I could easily picture one of those past acquaintances saying something like that.

Frank Marshall Davis for instance.
 
The question shouldn't be, "is it socialism" the question should be, "is it wage slavery". Think people might have been able to afford their loans had profit not been hoarded by greed ...it stands to reason -- karma, call it whatever it turned and bit em in the ass.
 
Out of curiosity....most people consider a middle class and poor favoring tax system that has the rich paying higher tax rates to be income redistribution, the income being distributed to the poor/middle class via higher tax rates on the rich. We are paying for the middle class's lower rates using the money gained from higher taxes on the rich. income redistribution

However the current tax system favors the rich (if you think it doesn't, I have a bridge to sell you) and the middle class is paying higher taxes...so basically we are redistributing income from the middle class (via higher rates) to the rich. We are paying for the riches lower rates via higher tax rates on the middle class. income redistribution

Same thing. Think about it.

Come back when you've actually had a real job and paid taxes yourself. I've known plenty of self-righteous little socialists like you. Of course, they were living off mommy and daddy. When they finally started earning they were shocked at how much they had to pay. Suddenly taxes took on a different meaning.

I'd love to see you explain to that plumber, who is up to his elbows in people's toilets all day, how he isn't paying enough to subsidize Obama's welfare clients. Obama could sneer at him because he had a dozen secret service guards.

Nearly 40% of americans pay no income tax at all. Another 30% pay next to nothing. The entire tax burden is resting on a smaller and smaller group. Of course a small number of the very rich are odious crooks, the options hog CEO's and Wall Street manipulators. Most however are small businessmen, the people who create most of the jobs.
