I started laughing reading this.
Look what happens to Spike Lee when the tables get turned towards the end of the article. He turns into a crotchety old cracker.

The funny thing is I agree with him 100 percent. Why should the established culture of the neighborhood have to bow to the lifestyle demands of the recent immigrants from other boroughs and states. Spike Lee should have just said... enough with the diversity shit this is how we do things in this borough.

Nah. You can’t do that. You can’t just come in the neighborhood and start bogarting and say, like you’re motherfuckin’ Columbus and kill off the Native Americans. Or what they do in Brazil, what they did to the indigenous people. You have to come with respect. There’s a code. There’s people.

Its has nothing to do with conservatism, Jem. Most people will be mad at someone coming into their neighborhood and upsetting the applecart.

Its the same as people on this forum expects The Presidency to co-operate with the Opposition, whereas it ought to be the Opposition co-operating with the Elected Administration.

Conservative is by definition conserving the culture and progressive means destroying the culture. Lee is feeling what the majority frequently experience as those on the left come in and demand a change in culture. For instance gay marriage. Women in the locker room. Wearing head scarfs or prayer mats at work... or whatever the left is trying to progress... (other than discrimination prohibited by the constitution).

Lee --- oh no... you minorities (in this case apparently white people) you don't get to come in here and change the way we do things... we have a code. you have to respect it.

That is pretty interesting don't you think? By the way I am not complaining about what he is doing... I am just pointing out the irony of it.
