Specter To Switch Parties

Quote from smilingsynic:

The GOP is trying hard to become a permanent Southern-based minority party.

Moderates like Specter, Snowe, and Collins are clearly not welcome in the Republican party. I expect more to leave and head to the bigger, more tolerant tent on the other side.

Independents like me have increasingly fled the Republican party in recent years. I expect more to leave.

GOP wants to worship the altar of reagan forever. despite what blowhard limbaugh says, era of reagan is gone forever. To my generation reagan means nothing.

Quote from dsq:

He left the party of pedophiles, confederate flag racists, corruption, incompetents and conspiracy lunatics.Smart move.

Huh?

It has nothing to do with the fact he is getting his clock cleaned.

Specter did not leave the Republican party. The Republican party left him.

I know how it feels.

The TRUTH hurts, doesn't it?

That's why I changed my voter registration from the GOP after 28 years . . . The GOP is a shell of its former self. They don't even know what they stand for anymore.

Sad, but true.

Get real. He left because he was behind double digits in the primary. He is an opportunist, nothing else. No telling what Harry Reid promised him.

This breaks filibuster, so at this point the Dems can do anything they want and they need 0 Republican support. They now own it. No more excuse Obama. You own it pal.

The hobnail boot coalition will now be complete...

Sounds to me it's more like Evangelical Christians and southerners are not welcome in the so-called "big tent" a few religious bigots want to turn the republican party into. They don't get their way on issues like backing homo "marriage" so they claim the party has "left them."

The party of Al Sharpton, Hillary Clinton, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Ted Kennedy and Harry Reid suits them just fine however.
