SP400 Liquidity Workaround?

The EMD front month has spreads a mile wide and the IJH etf is pretty bad too. It seems like this thing is just not liquid on any kind of short term basis. Anybody have a trick or workaround to actually daytrade the SP Midcap 400 ?

The cash session has better spreads due to arbitrage with the underlying stocks. I personally wouldn't trade that thing during cash close
