I would rather draw the lines between intellectually challenged people and smart/wise people. Intelligent people are able to digest information, learn, aggregate knowledge and apply that to derive a big picture.
People like the ideas they first heard in college. Makes them feel young again. Republicans didn't go to college so they like the ideas they first heard before they got married. Either way it's all based on past memories which always seem to be pleasant because they involved our youth.
