Hi All,
Here's a letter (with some editing) I had e-mailed to IB Management at
ibmgmt@interactivebrokers.com
If you have similar concerns, may I suggest that you also e-mail your thoughts to IB Management?
Thanks.

Hello,
I have been concerned about the security of IB's e-mail and web
system shortly after becoming an IB customer. In particular, I
have never been comfortable with the unencrypted daily and
monthly statement e-mails sent from IB to my account. While I do
like receiving the statements in e-mail form, I am uncomfortable
with so much information being made available in unencrypted form.
It would be great if IB could provide the following enhancements
to their security protocols:
1. For all wire transfers, have an IB staff call up the IB
customer to verify that the wiring instructions prior to wiring
out the money. Faxed, e-mailed, or web instructions alone should
not be sufficient to wire out funds.
2. Encrypted emails via Digital signatures, such as those issued
by Verisign, for the daily and monthly statements.
3. For all live chat and telephone interaction, require a
verbal/written password to be given.
4. For all e-mail communications from an IB customer to IB
support staff, require the customer's e-mail to have a digitally
signed ID.
5. Whenever a customer contacts IB from a IP address (for live
chat or e-mails) or a telephone number that does not match the
records, require additional verification of the identity.
Thanks for your time.
