Some Basic Questions

I currently trade several systems using EOD (end of day) data.

I 've also been looking to start executing my intraday FX system but do not want to be awake all night.

Can you guys teach me the basics of automated trading?

I've heard about OpenQuant, etc .... what are the mechanics of using it (or other platforms) to automate your trading? How to you link it up to a broker? Which Brokers? Does the system (rule generating engine) sit on your local machine or or at the software vendor's servers?

Thanks for any info to point me in the right direction!

Just the basic principles...

all "systems" from book are use to be available for free on TS forum..
