Sold at the bid but didn't get filled???

Why would a sell order at the bid not get filled?

liquid stock, 100 shares. I don't get it?

I was told that this sometimes happens to traders and it sent shivers down my spine.

It didn't happen to me... yet. But I want to avoid it.

I wanted to do a reality check here to see:
1. Is this true? Is it possible for a sell order at the bid to NOT get filled.
2. Why this would happen.

someone's sell order was ahead of yours and there were no more shares bid at that price. Or possibly the bid was pulled before you order could execute. There is never a guarantee of a fill.

You did not answer me, what traded, what was the market going in and after, do you even remember?

If you ask a question, please try to read the responses and answer.

I realize you are all excited someone actually responded to your trading 101 question, but now try and learn something.

If nothing traded at the bid, maybe it cancelled, or got hit ahead as was suggested.
