Software Used to Trade Jack Hershey Methods

Quote from dr0833:

DOes anyone know if the silver version of Trade Navigator can be used if one wants to only trade equities? Besides the culling process what are the other advantages of this software for equities method only?

While I cannot say with any degree of certainty (as I did not test these functions while using the 'Silver' or 'Lite' Versions of the TN Software), You can test out the functions under all three Software Versions (without charge) for 30 days in order to see which version meets your needs the best. Having said that, anyone wanting to learn after hours might consider the Tic by Tic replay (which replays the entire futures workspace) as helpful to the learning process. Using this feature allows the learning trader to 'practice at night' (while continuing their day job).

So we can either buy the software for 745 or 2450 and use a separate data provider such as a supported broker, or we can pay 115 a month and get the gold version of the software. Is this correct?

Also besides an automated means of the culling process, what advantages does this software have for trading the equities method?

What would be the reason to actually buy TN?

The standard package includes TN/Gold and all the data you'll ever need (YMMV, of course) in a subscription model similar to eSignal, qcharts etc

It can be difficult to sort out their packages. You still need to pay exchange fees for real time data on top of the lease or purchase fees, unless your broker picks them up. Apparently the leased versions don't have all the functionality of the purchased ones, but I don't think that affects any of our indicators. Here is what they told me:

Genesis will provide the data via our $59 Lite Data package. This will provide delayed streaming data for futures and indices, and a limited access to Trade Navigator software. [Your broker] will then convert the delayed data to real time. The Forex data remain delayed. Real time Forex is an additional $25.

If you would like to add delayed streaming stock data, you will switch from the $59 Lite data package to the $119 Standard Streaming data package. This package will provide delayed streaming data for futures, stocks, and indices, as well as, the COT and Sentiment reports. It will also include additional charting functions, such as, Breakout Bars, Full EOD History, Advanced Charting, Customer Chart Pages, and Streaming Replay, to name a few. To add real time US Stocks, it is an additional $6. Level II is an additional $9.

If you purchase TN Gold through Genesis, it is a one time purchase. You will own the software and will receive all future upgrades free of charge. By purchasing TN Gold you will receive additional charting functions, such as, Pivot Point Drawing Tool, Advanced Spread Multiplier, Fibonacci Clusters, Heiken Ashi Bars, and Auto Trading a Strategy to name a few. You are then required to subscribe to a monthly data package. That would be either the $59 Lite or $119 Standard data packages. If you stay with [your broker], they can still activate your real time. However, you may activate the exchanges through Genesis for the additional exchange fees on top of the data package. The advantage of purchasing the software is the increased charting functionality.

With the lite version you will get delayed YM and ES, futures and delayed FX. To get stocks you need the $119 package. Even if you only want stocks, you still need the $119 package - EZ

Follow up on the Dom for TN:
The 5 Levels of Depth of Market are only available for select electronic symbols. You have to upgrade to our Standard Streaming data package in order to get the 5 levels of the DOM. Or, have it activated through [your broker]

Thanks for the explanation. Now can anyone explain what advantage this software will have for trading stocks over using wealth lab and quote tracker or esignal, besides the automated culling?

Is it possible for someone with no programming skills to automate trading the equities method with this software?

FWIW, I wanted to point something out to new TN users. The bar time is close of bar, as noted by the bottom pop up window. But the layout of the time scale is for open bars.

This is my 4th software program this year, not noticing the offset really messed with my study of the journal the last couple months. Referring to the wrong bars on my part, etc., created a lot of confusion. In case someone didn't notice how the time layout works, I hope this will save you a lot of headaches.

Regards - EZ
