Here's the issue nkhoi.

If I use Pepe's channel tool for a particular instrument (say ES) with a particular bar time frame (say 5 min), then EVERY chart of the 5 min ES will have the channels drawn using Pepe's channel tool on it. Now for some people that's not a problem because in fact they want to have the same channels on every 5 min ES chart.

However, if for whatever reason you want to draw a new set of channels using Pepe's channel tool on a new 5 min ES chart, then too bad. You can't do this. You will always have the old ones. That's what the 'carryover' problem is.

I have np of removing the carry over channels by click on them then hit delete key before I draw a new channel. Are you saying you are unable to delete the carry over channel?

I see what you are saying but what I wish to be able to do is to have BOTH the original 5 min ES chart with a particular set of channels drawn using Pepe's channel tool and a NEW 5 min ES chart with a new set of channels drawn using Pepe's channel tool, running at the same time. I don't want to get rid of the old 5 min ES channels, I just don't want them on the new 5 min ES chart.

Indeed it is a broker version, palinuro but as I have bemoaned elsewhere, my capitalization level is low enough that I can't cough up for the fee.

What prompted the whole thing was the 'carryover' problem with pepe's tool, as has been elaborated in the posts immediately above. There wouldn't be a problem at all if NT had a channel tool but they don't. You can use the 'line drawing' tool, copy the line and move it over but it's a clutzy way of doing channels.

Personally I think it's all part of a conspiracy to dissuade Hershey traders from plying their trade (ho, ho).

So there we are. Went ahead and put in a plea to the NT coders but have heard nada, and that was weeks ago. So if you need something to keep your coding skills honed ....

It can't be done properly as an Indicator until NT7 comes out.

Also, if you're using ZenFire for futures data you would need some other feed for the DJ Index data, and that can lead to questions about update timing from the data providers....

I've done it as a Strategy, but it was fiddly to set it up each day and I never found it very useful, so it has been gathering dust for a long time.

Thanks palinuro for the update and the well taken point re 'time synchronization'. What DP (other than another broker) have you used for the index data? I know you can get it from IB but have tried to find some NT-friendly outfit and have not yet been successful.
