You know the original G.I Bill that lifted a whole generation could be considered "socialism" under the degenerate Rush Limbaugh/Fox News/Wall St Journal school of thought.

A wealthy country could choose to spend its wealth by investing in its citizens or it could "try to spread liberty across the world".
Where were "conservatives" screaming bloody murder about $500 billion military budgets and the idiotic Iraq war? No welfare queen could dream of wasting as much money as the military industrial complex.

USA is the most advertised country in the world. It is a marketed brand "Land of opportunity". You would be hard pressed to find people running away from Norway to USA for example. Sure there is a never ending stream of people from Vietnam/China/Mexico etc trying to get here but nobody from well developed countries.

I did not say people would be running away from Norway. I noticed that you failed to address Cuba. Perhaps you are looking at slanted "quality of life" measures. I have been to Cuba. The quality of life in Cuba is terrible.
