Socialism failed the test in one of America's Universities. A must read.

Quote from Covertibility:

In the classroom is one thing, the real world is another.

Privatize the profits, socialize the losses. - capitalist axiom.

Bernanke and Arthur Burns are classical examples of why academics should not be allowed into the real world. Colleges (or more specific, adult daycare centers) are nothing more than papermills whereby a student has to regurgitate material to prove he has a functioning brain. These churchlike institutions provide material and reasoning that will make anyone believe anything........

I have been trying to give Bernanke a pass throughout all this. But, something tells me you are right. He may well be the wrong man at the wrong time.

Third Exam

Average score F.
------------------------------------

Hmnnn. A professor from the University of Warsaw has come to the conclusion:

The exams are too difficult. The questions do not properly address the diversity of our society. Students should apply for extra time, perhaps have the questiions read orally rather than written. Time to change the grading system to a simple "P/F". Pass or Fail. "F" is the new "A".

Quote from maxpi:

I already went from the A student to the D level really... I never thought about what motivated that but it just hit me after reading that story... I was working real hard, this is about fifteen years back, and my neighborhood underwent a rather quick change from a middle class situ to a lower class one.. after awhile I realized that the people around me were milking the welfare system for all it was worth and basically they had a similar level of life and a hell of a lot more free time while I was exhausting myself... I retired in place on the job and studied trading all day. Eventually I got fed up and dropped out of the work and debt cycle completely, literally told them all to go fck themselves, defaulted on credit cards and the whole bit, fck it... no regrets today, why fight the trend, somebody wants socialism in the USA so bad, fine, socialism it is... Socialism is hell on productive people, pure hell... Bush tried to reform SSI and they all went ballistic on him... senseless bastards...

Why do you think these sycophants love Obama so much so they can sit on their ass and give us suckers the finger. I do believe a bad moon is a risin'.

Socialism works well for for people such as Landis82, Publix, and Thundermutt because these are bottom of the barrel people. They can't compete on an even playing field so they need some other way to collect money. Government money, healthcare and housing will suit them just fine because its the best they can do.

I'm sort of thinking of the SHTF scenario in the US. That may be one reason everybody is stocking up on ammo and growing their own food... it will be our turn to raise up the middle finger salute to the whole welfare class, maybe even the public sector employees...

Quote from Misthos:

Currently no society has pure socialism or pure capitalism. There is a mix. The question is, how much of each.

That said, Sweden treated it's banks a lot more capitalistic than we have. And Norway has a lot of millionaires per capita. Go figure

I'm not saying they have the greatest system, but painting with broad strokes is a bit simplistic. As I said, all countries have a mix of the two.

Our Socialism really benefits the top percent. And it's not a recent phenomena. I think it's funny to see my fellow countrymen complain the loudest when it's the lower class schleps that get nickles, and when the 100 dollar bills go to the plutocrats, less is said.

By the way, I studied tax law in Law School, you will be shocked by the many loopholes specifically created for wealthy types - actors, hedge fund managers, ballplayers, etc.... If you factor in all these loopholes, over the past 30 years our tax code has flattened, it has become less progressive from the days that the top rate was over 70%.

Gee, were we starved, unentrepeneurial commies form the 1950s-1960s when the rates were that high?

I'm no fan of higher taxes. But let's not boil this discussion down to simplistic unrealistic scenarios. There's a reason that over the last 30 years wealth has accumulated into fewer hands. And Socialism ain't the reason. At least not the traditional sense of Socialism.

Someone who gets it, at a level some of you putz's can only dream of. Stop using the Soviet Union as an example of socialism's prospects as an ingredient of an organizing principle for governing people ...it isn't and wasn't any moreso than America exemplifies pure capitalism's prospects for a flawless approach to governing a people. When you don't oversimplify with emotionally potent statements that make your hormones fire, you'll come to the realization that modern government has evolved to become hybrids of early trial and error experiments. I don't see America underwriting China's debt ...do you?

Says the guy who lives in an undesirable area of the San Fernando Valley. Otherwise known as "Ground Zero" when the shit hits the fan.

I wouldn't expect someone "who gets it" to compare China to the US. But hey, my expectations for those who envy China's power structure are extremely low ...

my god ... a harbinger for things to come, for 30+ years the youth of this country has been indoctrinated by idiots like these, ...

Quote from ivanbaj:

Let’s pretend to have a conversation here. I’ll start it and you can finish it.

Me: Gee this is ridiculous. The government is taking half my money to give it to all those lazy people.

You: That’s too bad. What do you do for a living?

Me: Well, I rob banks.

You: Can you teach me?

Me:

Me : Banks are already robbed!

Quote from runningman:

Dude- you should totally move to Somalia. There's no Socialism, no pesky government intervention. They let free markets decide. I think you'd fit in well there. Good luck- thnxbai

That would be a great idea, especially if the Somali people adopted the Bill of Rights and the US Constitution [and defended said documents ]......then, Somalia would be like the US used to be.
