Social networking growth up 93% since 2006

Quote from stock_trad3r:

There is no recession with social networking. Young, connected p
eople are paying for internet access, while embracing web 2.0 technologies despite the constant negativity by the media. Facebook users can give eachother digital 'gifts', resulting in millions of dollars a year in revneue for facebook. The integration of Iphone with mobile payment systems ensures that consumers can consume anywhere on the go.

I don't know what the media keeps dwelling on the bad when there is so much good news such as this story.

None of these companies are profitable and they are fads

Rembember Geocities, or AOL Chat, or ICQ

These services could not survive on their own.

Facebook, Myspace, orkut, groove networks, linked in.

Not self sustainning. They are features not business models.

No one has figured how to montize these services yet. And they've only been trying for a decade.

Big whoop that they are growing..Where's the beef?

The original poster is right. Sites like Twitter will pull us out of this mental recession.

Why is there no emoticon for rolling your eyes?

Do you guys got a facebook account?

One day, I just surfed my girlfriend's account looking for old pals, but only got the ugly chicks from high school doing fashion and "party" photos, almost puked and then shut it down forever.
