So why exactly are oil companys getting subsidies?

Now I don't know much about this topic nor do I know what exactly is meant by 'subsidy', but if exxon is the most valuable company in the world (next to apple) then... i don't get it.

I'm not clear on that either. Ricter might know, he is in the energy business.
 
I think of a subsidy as a direct cash payment. The only energy companies getting that are so-called green companies controlled by Obama supporters.

Liberals call every tax benefit to an industry they dislike a subsidy.

and thats why i question the word 'subsidy'

i mean, GE didn't pay any taxes, romney paid 15% :cool: GM took money (about 30 billion), lisa down the street with 2 kids got money she never earned, apple has a ton of money over seas that isnt taxed, private equity = carried interest (is that a subsidy?)

the tax code is so retarded you can't pick on any one entity that is paying a different rate, simplify it, then you can start making comparisons.
