Sure we do...
1) The Top 1% funds the campaigns of the politicians. Many times funding both sides of an election.
2) The politicians after the election enact the policies dictated to them from the wealthy donors.
3) The wealthy donors laugh at posters on the internet who suffer from the delusion that they elected politicians from either party who will actually put in place policies that the poster desires.

(This should be pretty close)
