So nike bought a company that makes digital sneakers for the hyped up metaverse

Way I see it is people were very dismissive of the internet 20 years ago in the same way. Therefore I think it prudent to add a small portion of my portfolio into these projects and see what happens.

Corporate marketing is a trillion dollar industry for a reason. They will make it real in people's minds and those people will buy that because they are convinced they need it.

I actually think the metaverse is going to be a big thing. A few months ago I tried out some virtual reality googles and found it hugely entertaining. I am certain that the first company that develops entertaining virtual reality movies will completely kill traditional movies. It would just be far more entertaining.

If you think about life now, millions of people spend at least 12 hours per day in front of digital screens. That number is probably growing with every passing month. One could argue that if you were able to create these digital "metaverse worlds", those people who are currently spending 12 hours per day staring at screens will almost certainly be willing to spend that time "inside" their screens in a more immersive environment. If the technology is there to make it seamless, then it is going to happen. It just make sense.

Think about the huge Japanese anime culture. Are you telling me those types of people are not going to be all over the metaverse? They will be all over it.

Now, will Nike be able to sell $120 digital sneakers for people to "wear" on their hologram selves in digital worlds? I have no idea. I think there will be some market for it.

The bigger question is cultural and societal. Is it harmful to the world to have people spending 18 hours per day wearing virtual reality goggles? Are these fulfilling lives? Is this how we are intended to live?

I would argue to that question, is most certainly "no".

We are pretty much living those lives now. Social media, gaming, reality shows, crypto currency etc. Concepts that would have been laughed at 30 years ago are a part of reality now. Metaverse will probably be no different. To me the concept of living in a matrix might sound ridiculous but to a young person who didn’t grow up playing stickball with a broom stick outdoors after school it might be heaven.

This point is very true, and I always think about what I'm missing with regards to the metaverse because I also fail to understand how someone will want to live their entire life in a virtual world. (please at least lets all agree that food has to be real! LOL)

But this also makes me think of a recent Jeff Booth video I saw where he talks about how technology should lead to a deflationary world since technology will be able to provide so much stuff for next to nothing. In this fashion, maybe young kids can spend their whole lives doing nothing and simply live off the system. But the point he makes is the current debt based system doesn't allow for deflation. So you have technology, which should be deflationary, at odds with the current inflationary system. How it all plays out is anyone's guess, but his key points certainly do seem to be playing out.

Just because you don't understand something doesn't make it stupid. NFTs are the future and just about everything we do is digital now. Either learn to adapt or get left in the dust...

They need to keep the asset bubble going so they are now creating hype behind another asset class, NFTs . You believe this garbage hype, fine by me, go spend your money on an this bubble NFTs and try your best to sell it to the next dumb fool, it's called fear of missing out and that's why this fad has taken over the last year.

There is no "fear of missing out" by me since I am an NFT producer. NFTs are already a big hit, not just by me but by millions of new age investors. There's money in it, so get over it.

this fad is really really really getting ridiculously stupid right now.

No matter how stupid I think some new trend is I have to remember the adage "a real trader will make a market on anything." I don't care if it's Non-fungible snail shit, point me to an exchange and I'll bring a bucket.
