So It Turns Out Mexico Will Pay For The Wall...

I don't think it will do one thing to illegal immigration. Zero, nada, zilch. Illegal immigration isn't something Mexico can fix in the short term. It is doubtful they can fix it in the long term. They can't even stop drug cartels and corruption. They're probably making more money from the flow of narcotics than they are from the flow of legitimate goods.

The whole "Mexico will pay for the wall" comment has always been misrepresented and overblown. There isn't a bill that can be presented, an account debited. The concept of Mexico paying for the wall has always been in overall GDP impact - both here and there. It is exceptionally difficult, if not impossible, to judge who would actually foot the bill in any real world implementation of such policy. It is easy to determine who will pay for any wall directly - we will. In the form of more issued debt.

As I have mentioned before in regards to China, tariffs are flawed because of the simple fact that only one man in political power is behind them - Trump. Therefore, China and Mexico and whatever companies affected need only wait for this one man to be out of the picture before business can return to normal. More and more this looks to be sooner rather than later as an embattled Trump continues to marginalize and isolate himself with these dramatic moves. Additionally, all interested parties now have an interest to get rid of Trump rather than support him or remain on the sidelines. And there are some pretty powerful players in there.

If we were united, Congress and the White House, in imposing tariffs that would be different. The message would be "this isn't going away and you need to change something or we're all going to be at this for a long, long time." But the Democrats and many Republicans are set against Trump no matter what he does - even if what he does is right and needs to be done. This is the whole problem with our politics: Team before Principle.

All Mexico has to do is close its borders to the migrants. Put Federal police and harden it with lots of barriers. Andres Lopez-Obrador is full on Socialist so, he is deliberately, subverting the US by letting the migrants in and busing them to the US border! No sovereign country will tolerate that crap! Mexico is being a bad neighbor to the US by creating problems which could have easily been avoided! They have tens of billions of dollars surplus with the US and to act in a hostile manner to your neighbor is totally, unacceptable! Remittances to Mexico needs to be another option if the Mexican government still will not take action! Do not bite the hands that feeds you!

Absolutely. For Mexico to knowingly let massive caravans into Mexico, knowing that their plan is to illegally enter the U.S is a hostile act toward this country.

Just as it would be a hostile act toward Canada if we allowed massive numbers of people to enter this country who openly state that they are headed to Canada to try enter that country then that would be a hostile act toward Canada.

Oh, and Tards dont try to get slippery with me by saying that it is not illegal to request asylum. The fucking Mexicans know that under international law, Mexico is the place where they must request asylum, not the U.S., if they are coming from Central America. We know that Mexico cannot control all the various schemes for entering. They are just being asked to not be enablers and facilitators and outfight dirty, crooked promoters poking us in the eye at every step.

The lefties blame the surge immigration on the combination of a booming economy in the U.S and the rising shitholerization in the central american countries.

Your solution: Make sure the we are reduced to the same level as all the other countries by watching our country decline all while building their economies up.

We are experiencing and will continue to experience massively surging invasions until the laws are changed allowing us to block the invaders from entering and to be able to toss them out if apprehended, and ending the bullshit asylum claims. If Trumps actions cause an even greater surge, then so be it. Let those images be before the public in the 2020 elections. It is a pivotal election and if Trump does not take both the white house and the house and maintain the senate then we are fucked. Most likely, we are fucked because he will either not take the house or the republicans will have anti-trumpers or pussies in their ranks.

In the meantime, Commie Boy in Mexico who is just elected can be thinking about whether he is going to be able to deliver on his campaign promises without the help of Trump. But I get the fact, that without a change in laws, we cannot stop the onslaught unless we improve the economies of every country between Texas and Tierra Del Fuego at the tip of South America.

You pussies have a plan to keep things simple by just taking down the wall, and watching North America and South America just all become peanut-buttered together. Your hero Beto, stood right there in El Paso and said he would just take the wall down and let the kumbaya begin. Guess what? They are not sending their best people.

All of this is solvable if Republicans would just compromise with the democrats. The longer the right acts impetuous the worse illegal immigration will get.

And don’t blame the democrats, they remain ready to negotiate. It’s Trump and the republicans that are not at the table.

As proof it’s Trump, Trump can’t even land an infrastructure bill and literally everybody wants one.

Mexico can close its southern borders, but they have a more "leaky" border than we do. It's just a smaller area geographically. But there is plenty of illegal immigration Mexico can do nothing about. And, of course, this won't stop illegal Mexican immigrants from coming into the US.

The Tariff will increase 5% each month until it reaches its maximum of 25% in October. That is 25% on ALL goods imported from Mexico.

That avocado toast you enjoy is going to get a bit more expensive.

It looks like Uncle Sam is fed up with being ripped off six ways to Sunday. Mexico can either stop the illegal immigration or lose a vast chunk of their economy.

We all know they aren't going to lift a finger to stop illegals so the Mexican economy will be crushed. I think you will see the San Joaquin Valley gradually return to its former status as America's bread basket. Companies will fall over themselves trying to relocate back to the USA.

And the Wall will be paid for... by Mexico.

Again, I doubt it. Companies will make a risk assessment and ask themselves:

1. At what cost will relocation have to occur?
2. Can I hold off until the next election?
3. If I can, do I believe Trump loses and a new President will reverse these?

etc.

If Congress and the President were united in their mission to solve the problem this way, companies would immediately plan for production in the states, which would come with its own inflation as goods would be made by higher wages, etc.

In the same nature/spirit of the risk assessment you listed I believe this same approach is used by companies who knowingly hire illegal immigrants.

I have looked at a number of ICE raids in the past few years. Some of the companies have been busted multiple times. In none of the cases is the CEO or any management facing prison time.

The company will typically be fined (a fairly large amount of money). Many companies manage their risk by using 3rd party temporary staffing agencies. When the company is raided the management has offloaded all of the legal risk on the staffing agencies.

Some of these companies are repeat offenders. Their risk assessment tells them the expected value/return is greater when you pay illegal immigrants below labor market values VS. the cost of an ICE raid.

I'm not sure e-verify could solve this. Many of these temp staffing agencies have been proven to KNOWINGLY commit fraud and identity theft in their efforts to get illegals hired. CEOs who want to leverage a lower cost illegal labor force can insulate themselves from legal charges by insulating themselves via a staffing agency.

TLDR; You need new laws that hold CEOs accountable. We also need e-verify and stronger oversight on Temp Staffing Agencies.

No. Full stop, no.

Demoncrats need to give it up.

Okay but the problem that we are up against now- that is relatively recent due to the wacko court rulings- is that illegals are not trying to cross the border and not be caught. The are trying to reach the border and turn themselves over- with the exception of the drug dealers. In other words, the goal is to be caught or just show up.

Just a couple years ago the overwhelming number of illegals were young males. Now the majority are families or some combination that may involve a rent-a-kid to get asylum or stealing some children on the way up and then dumping them after they are in.

There is no fix without both a wall and a change in asylum laws.

How is Mexico guilty of something that is controlled by another country? If 40 Mexicans decide tomorrow to run over the border, how should have Mexico stopped that? Granted their southern border is quite weak but you are going to punish Mexico because some of its citizens are sneaking across the border (that is the idea of sneaking...no one knows about it) then it is typical of American blame others and take no responsibility.

I think Mexico and South America should put tariffs on all U.S. goods until Americans stop buying cocaine and weed.

U.S. needs to change its asylum laws, enforce tougher employment penalties for hiring undocumented workers, improve immigration facilities outside the U.S. where people apply, add more security along the border and tell people with action that we will provide a process for you to come in and we will make it easier to access but if you bypass it, game over.

If my house has no shit worth stealing I can leave it unlocked all the time. If the U.S. closed down all the freebies and loopholes and punished those who provide support to those who are undocumented then the incentive is taken away and while you never eliminate illegal immigration, you reduce it sgnificantly.

Punishing Mexico because our border and immigration laws suck balls is just a pussy move I would expect from current D.C. politics. There have been numerous times where the President and Congress were of the same party and nothing was done so stop pointing fingers except in the mirror. Trump's latest action is just typical American bravado and lack of accountability.
