In that case, you'd also need to look at both the resolution and the accuracy of the meat thermometer. I'd guess that it's not very accurate/readable at room temperatures...

I was so motivated by this riveting account, I shoved a meat thermometer up my ass to see if I was decomposing. Although the room temp was a normal 72, The thermometer went to "rare", 99 degrees. I think I'm going bad.
