40k a year with 4%, ofcourse you have inflation, but if you have 2 million, you would use the 40k from the other mill to fight off the inflation.
2 million means you never have to work again (if you can live of 40k a year)

I retired twice. Once from my job, once from trading. I am obviously trading again. A million bucks is not enough to live a lifetime anymore, even getting 7% interest, unless one moves to a third-world country or the zona along the Mexican border...
