So how does the Fed print 1 trillion dollars ?

So how does the Fed print 1 trillion dollars ?

I heard they don't even fire up the presses. They do it electronically.

Here is my imagined scenerio :)

Fed Chairman (F) to Treasury Secretary (T) ... (looking at 1200 page stimulus bill) .

(F) "ok, open up the accounts payable spreadsheet."

(F) "now go to stimulus."

(T) "got it. how many zeros was that again ?"

(F) "twelve ... yea, twelve".

(T) "ok. 1, 2, 3, ..."

(T) "damn. almost payed 10 trillion".

(T) "ok, got it."

(T) hits enter.

(T) "done".

they even admit it if you look hard enough

From the testimony of Marriner Eccles, Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board, before the House Banking and Currency Committee, Sept. 30, 1941:

Congressman Patman: "Mr. Eccles, how did you get the money to buy those two billions of government securities?"

Eccles: "We created it."

Patman: "Out of what?"

Eccles: "Out of the right to issue credit money."
