What kind of gun did this guy have?

I’m guessing not an assault rifle because if he had an ar-15 I’m sure this would have been much deadlier. I could be wrong but the bullets used appear not to be the ones that assault rifles use. Probably clean holes is what saved a lot of these peoples lives.

Looking at this witness, seems it was a handgun which would make sense on the low fatality with the longer distances in the street. I'd imagine smaller caliber but who knows, people thought it was fireworks.

You can tell the round by the looks of the wound? Do you realize that a .45 caliber bullet is twice the diameter of an AR 15 round? And that one of the complaints about the AR 15 is that its small bullet lacks the stopping power of larger rounds? Sure, a 5.56 round can cause devastating damage but it can also go right through someone with minimal damage. The other notorious assault weapon, the AK 47, is known for having poor terminal performance.
