I'm about to give up on the Samsung. Just bought it probably 6 or 7 years ago, maybe less, but not much less, and I think its gone. On yalls suggestion I tried to do the diagnostic thing, it did not show any errors (other than change water filter and ice maker plugged, but those don't affect the cooling and have been showing for years).
Several days ago after I made the post I pulled it out and swept all the dust off the panels with the slits, it did not help (there was not much). Then earlier today I opened the back panel and got a hand vacuum and vacuumed all the dust I could see on the radiator looking shrowd thingies, it did not help (not surprisingly, again not that much dust).
I don't see anything plugged or especially dirty or anything. Everything is clean back there. So I think the condenser or evaporator or whatever it is that does the cooling is just no longer working properly. There is some "super cooling" button you can hold down to put the cooling into overdrive, and that DOES seem to get it down to the proper temperature, but that only last for a little while and its back to normal mode where the temperature is like in the 50s.
Barron's advice was that its probably best just to get a new one, its probably gone and the cost to call in a work order will be a bunch and will probably be wasted given that cost and the cost to fix it will probably be comparable to buying a new one. While I am always hesitant to take Barron's advice - he is at least a 9 out of a 10 on the sketch rating - I feel he is right this time around.
So its new refrigerator time. Any brands that stand out as much better than the others, or much worse than the others? I prefer not to get another Samsung. Is Frigidaire any good? Looking at prices they seem to be cheaper than most of the other brands.
Thanks for any suggestions!
