Sleepy Joe created a disaster . Millions of job openings nobody will work

It means he billed two hours at $90 per hour for a 15-minute session and didn't resolve the problem. I used to work in that field. Billable hours is the greatest game in the workiverse. I left that field because it is totally dishonest work. My work ethic prevents me from charging someone hours of work for something that took 10 minutes to resolve, or not resolve. (No disparagement on you oracle. If that is your thing, then roll with it. It's a great gig.)

That's one reason why I am not rich.

As for the factory manager looking for welders and whining about not finding anyone? Has he ever heard of OJT? Another MORON. He's losing thousands of dollars a day by not having skilled workers. Well, just bring in the unskilled workers, train them, and you get your money back!

MORONS!

I did resolve the problem, I paid $ 19 for software that can break Windows 10 passwords. And no, the company gets $ 180 I subcontract for far less.

Well, when your dealers are running inventory at a 10% level, you really don't have the luxury of training someone to weld.

Have you ever tried to weld!?
Do you have any idea of how difficult and complex it is? Where you're from union pipe fitters that are certified welders get $45/hr+.
Time and a half over 40, 2X on weekends and holidays.

Trust me, when your selling millions of dollars worth of trailers.... the dude CAN"T AFFORD to have an apprentice making those welds. Its called liability.

Buy robots maybe, but I'm sure they already have them to the max extent possible. Maybe not, I dunno, but either way, welders need to spend AT LEAST two years in a community college.

The guy's not a moron dude. I have never met him, but I suspect you can trust me on that one too.

Hmm, the trouble ticket doesn't say that...

"Troubleshooting performed: I offered remote assistance, but he cant access the login screen on the Laptop.
Resolution: booked onsite pc.
-Dispatch Schedule: 4/3/2021 | TimeStart: 2 PM | TimeEnd: 4 PM"

So from your remote location, you diagnosed that he needs an onsite visit. And it took two hours to schedule the visit?

Remember APEX tech? They can do it in 6 months.

Yeah well, with a 90% backlog, the man needs professionals today. He's not running a friggin schoolhouse, he's running a business. If anything, he needs to bump the $27/hr to get the folks he needs. Supply and demand. Raise the price of trailers. Or sell out and move the whole operation to Mexico.

Orrrrrr... reinvent our school system, quit with the handouts, and instill a work ethic in kids too stupid to get a degree in math or science instead of gender sensitivity.

I agree with what you are saying regarding hiring geeks off the street with zero knowledge. But at least the guy can do it in a buffered way? Instead of waiting months to find qualified workers, while he is losing untold sums every day because he can't find the 100% workers....Bring in some semi-skilled and start the OJT. Apprenticeships and whatnot.

Surely the padawans can do minor welding jobs while learning the craft. It would help his productivity.

So they can quit and work somewhere else for $28/hr?
Oh ok, have them sign a contract.
They can pay this back:

Meanwhile Mr. Trailer guy has gone broke.

I don't do remote. That was the company. They could not solve the problem, so they sent me. (If read carefully my 1st post, I said this got sent to me in my e-mail.) {Booked onsite PC, means they booked me to go onsite}. The customer paid for a 2 hour block of time. Come on, you know how companies and customers pay for blocks of time.

It was from 2 pm to 4 pm because those were some of the hours I pre-scheduled that I could work. I have not been taking off block hours from this company since I do have other income.

What I am saying is...

The factory manager doesn't have to spend that much money to teach apprentices in his factory. He already has the tools for the padawans to use. The projects are right there in front of them all, tools are available...

*shrugs* It doesn't have to take two years in community college!

Ahh, you were the onsite responder, not the remote troubleshooter. That was not clear in your original post with the ticket info.

Still, that does not mean that "you can get a job", which implies that anyone can get a job.
