Skateboarding

Well, maybe heatstroke is more of a concern, but its the memories of hearing my bones snap that will stay with me! And, if I'm honest, keep me wary my kids take to the idea of jumping on a skateboard.

A friend of my son's has recently be given one of these monsters:

Fell off while going down some steps in the city. Not surprising. He put his back out, and his parents (unfortunate devils!) had to get him some memory mattresses from this shop Zen Bedrooms, because it was so painful for him even to lie down and try to sleep!

That's wild.

One can get hurt doing any activity. Somehow my dad broke his leg walking on the street when he was young. I'll take my chances and pay the ultimate consequences for some quick thrills. That said, multiple bone breaks or serious injuries would make me re-evaluate. Skateboarding (for those with reasonable coordination and not jumping off buildings) isn't any more dangerous than snowboarding, mountain biking, tackle football, etc.

You have to get your kicks somehow!

Since Youtube and other video services have changed their URLs and format over the years, many of the video links in the first 11 pages of this thread became broken over time. So I just want to chime in real quick to say that I went through every single post in this 130-post thread tonight and rebuilt all the video links to current standards so that each video is now embedded into it's original post as it was originally intended to. Skate on!
