To combat this plague, we have to go to the source, the university system. Luckily, it sits on a shaky foundation of government funding, funding which can be cut back drastically. Online learning not only promises massive cost savings. It also will remove the power base for these assholes.
My approach would be to simultaneously forgive student debt and get the money back by eliminating most funding to higher education. Can you say win-win? The government should offer to pay for credible online degree programs, with strict cost controls. In effect, higher education will go from the cost-plus medical and defense contracting model to the public utility model.
Tuition, etc is actually only a drop in the bucket for universities these days. The real gold is in government-funded "research," most of which is either useless or worse. You get status as a tenured professor by two things, slavish adherence to PC and the ability to bring in government grants. Since the vast majority of this money is wasted on useless research, there will be little public cost to cutting it, but the recipients will scream bloody murder, ie similar to what we see when efforts are made to modestly trim public broadcasting. Cowardly republican cucks like Paul Ryan will never go along with it on their own.
The key is to link cutting this funding to things like preserving medicare. Then the argument is not "why do you hate education?" It is "why is another project on queer sex practices of baboons more important than health care for the elderly?"
