Completely agree.

There once was a time when the only ones who had the right to vote were those who owned their land outright, "freeholders."

But, in today's world I'd rather it be a system where you forfeit your right to vote in order to receive public assistance and cannot reclaim that right for some number of years after you stop.

More importantly, the same right would be forfeited by each and every employee of any company receiving a government bailout and cannot reclaim that right until some number of years after the debt has been fully repaid, with interest.

The notion of "biggest tax increase in history" MAY be correct.. or maybe not.... depending upon how measured. In any event, not a happy development for those will be forced to shoulder the load.

Methinks you need to learn the difference between "hike" and "rate."

This may or may not be the biggest hike (increase) in history--it probably depends how you measure it. Every hike is unique and hits certain individuals, businesses and income classes differently.
But the title is legit since it's the largest by some criteria.

Neither the title nor anyone else claimed that rates will be their highest ever. But while income tax rates were higher through the 1930-1970s, there weren't nearly as many "hidden" taxes on gas, alcohol, cigarettes, etc. In the end, it all goes back to how you measure it.
