I can't argue with that but I was referring to the evidence outlined in the PBS documentary "The Commanding Heights" which was the OP's original reference.

They describe the Soviet Union economist study the writing's of Hayek and Friedman as they planned the transition to a free market economy from communism. What better arguement do you have that free markets are better than "commanded" markets.
