Random thoughts after almost 5 months of sim trading.

This whole day trading project is demanding a lot more effort than initially thought. 5 months ago I expected to be live after 3 months of sim trading.

In 5 months of sim trading I've learned so much more about how price behaves than in 1 year of reading trading books/forums.

I do this part-time and as I live in Europe I trade from the afternoon to the evening after my regular job. That means I usually have a 13-14 hour day. Maintaining a normal social life becomes somewhat difficult.

For me the best way to approach the market seems to be to play for the bigger intraday swings like 50+ moves in the YM. These moves don't happen every day so most of the time I'm waiting for this little time window where an opportunity exists.

It seems nearly impossible to know what the market is doing every day. But then there are these days where the market develops exactly like the scenario you had in mind. These are the days where you cash in big.

I’m unsure how difficult the switch to real trading will be and what the appropriate trigger should be. Right now I’m thinking of switching if I’ve earned double what my maximum loss was.

A lot of posters have abandoned the thread and I wonder why.
