With all due respect, anyone claiming to have a superior way of doing things, particularly trading, but incapable of making a single live call has to be stupid to think people will take such superiority for granted.

You accuse me of mocking, now I find that very ironic.

JH has been mocking everyone on this board for years, and considering your above post, you included.
 
he's different,eccentric,probably ocd,add,adhd,a myriad of misunderstood badly labeled diagnoseses,he's just jack,try and find the best in folks and unless they are harming you or others,leave the rest alone, don't be a judge,unless of course you think others opinions are important to you,plenty of people who can understand him have benefitted,a lot more like myself, can't and haven't, not his fault.i don't get beethoven either, doesn't make him a lousy musician

Couple of points.

--Different does not equate genius

--Hard to find someone that cannot see the brilliance in Beethoven's work.

--If Jack Hershey has something to say, he can create his own threads, but he has this very disrespectful behavior of crashing into random threads with his condescending attitude and irrational babble, particularly, on the good discussions( perhaps a complex), so in that regard he is a threat.

--You are entitled to your opinion, as I am, please don't tell me how to think, I'm not a child. Just because I can see through his bullshit and be vocal about it does not make me a basher, just an objective individual with a point a view. I'm a kind person but when I see bullshit I like to say so, just as I saw bullshit with Xspurt; could not say the same about you and RedTank, you two were very genuine and clear about your teachings.

Last but not least, this does not change the fact, that I am appreciative of the time you have taken to help me with my own trading, but just because you have been kind to me, does not mean I got to agree with everything you say, in and out of trading.

The OV on bar.0 may appear to you to be a limiting constant. But we know that it has magnitude. What if it is SM? What if it is MO? What if it is of other type of magnitude?

There is an OV on bar.1 too. Since you are using VO on bar.1 for comparison with VO on bar.0 on a DIRECT relationship as volume stand-in, why ignore OV on bar.1?

Sorry guys, I noticed too late that there are more posts I didn't read yet. I'm catching up.

Here the two of you are discussing "overlap". For my "vocabulary list" I need to add "Ov"and "Vo". I think they stand for "Overlap" and "Volatility". Is that correct?

Overlap can have following values: None, small, half, most and all. Also true?

As I have never seen an "overlap table" I'm currently having difficulties to wrap my head around "overlap". What for and how can I use "overlap"?

There is a PACE table putting volume into different PACE categories which then relate to volatility. Did somebody see such a table also for overlap?

so, yes! I'd say simplicity is important! why not.. at least what's 'simple' should be easily tested.. or you mean simplicity but the one that can't be tested??:confused: then it's not really SIMPLICITY .. COMPLEXITY comes to mind , but I don't know...

by the way guys, how do you test support / resistance strategy ??

I don't know how the number in the overlap were calculated but do I interpret what I see correctly:

The more overlap = less ticks to be gained?

Is that "all"?

I'm shopping this inquiry around. The name of this thread caught my attention because no one pair trades as simply as me (reasonably successfully). It's too bad except for last two posts there has only been a two month dry period for posts here.

Without using any software or metrics and just eye balling........... does a 10 year chart for a long term pairs trader willing to stay in the trade for many weeks to a few months have any usefulness at all. In other words, momentarily, disregard more significant short term modalities in the decision making of putting on a trade here.

The operative phrase here: "any use at all" for the prospect of shorting HOT and going long HST.
