In Metastock it is called Horizontal shift, plus or minus (+ or -)
Other traders here have referred to it as "offset"
It is one of the parameters you can adjust in the properties section of the moving average

You'll have to ask someone that has got TS but all you really need to do is set up a 3 Period Simple Moving Average with +2 offset
You know, a simple backtest would show this is useless and save everyone a lot of time and money. Amazing how many people are fooled by randomness.
It actually defines a system called the floor trader method but gets you in even faster than those rules. Perhaps making money is random for you but I've found that simple little indicator quite consistent at making money

Could you do us another two favor's?
Play around with your computer and try to match up as closely
as possible to your SMA3 offset 2 + with a straight
SMA or EMA. In other words as "closely as possible" what is the
equivalent of the SMA/EMA?
Also, while your playing on your computer try to figure out
what your SMA8 offset 2+ to a regular SMA/EMA?
It would be nice for us to get as close as possible to your
settings with all our different computer programs! So we
could all be looking at the same thing.
