[Simple IB question] Can one open paper account with no cash?

No, I meant that you can use the API in the free trial but you must select the beta version of the TWS to do so.

Thanks for the useful tip, which should be known to my friend by me.

For a possible next question in the future, do you keep watching my ET posting here, OR better to send email directly to you?

Dear-

My friend asked me, regarding IB paper account with no prior trading history?

1) Should he deposit cash of 10K in REAL account, for opening paper account in IB?
2) If not, how much is it?
3) If his FICO is medium, can he open it? If so, what score is needed?
3) tell me any similar possible scenario.
It never ceases to amaze me when people go in the most round about way of getting information.
A quick msg to IB themselves would answer all "your friends" questions, and accurately.
This unfounded fear of "your friend" having a crappy credit score will somehow "poison the well" if he asks for himself is the same kind of behavior that will cause "your friend" to not trade well.
Good luck, and may the trading Gods be with you (oops, I meant to say "to your friend").
Good luck to both of you.
