Silver Futures on InteractiveBrokers

I tried to buy a YI, but it said that i couldnt, because it's settled in physical

or there any silver futures on IB that are just financial settlement?

Both contracts are physically settled. You need to trade the March contract (there's no volume on the Jan contract).

you're probably buying one that is expiring. try buying the march contract

I suspect you tried to buy the Dec 06 contract which IB has effectively closed out (from the long side). You shouldn't have any trouble buying the YI Mar 07 contract.

Is this a special Interactive Brokers rule? They seem to close out earlier than ecbot exchange rules require.

On my other account I rolled over today, whereas IB sent me an email last Wed or Thurs saying I had till the end of the trading session to close out my Dec position.

grrr . . .
