Sick Feeling

Quote from bobcathy1:

Somewhere along the way they lost their souls.

And like rs7 insinuated, it might have something to do with the weapon they call music.

There are a ton of differences that you did not mention and I agree that we don't hear the real story, but that is so we don't reveal our sources and we are on a need to know basis for our own good. BTW these are not terrorist attacks this is not some secret mission that is targeting innocent people and our leader does not kill people over there opinions. You are way off and you should be ashamed of your resentment toward our leader.

Quote from Lobster:

Honestly, you have just solved a problem that I have been having since yesterday: I was wondering: Americans have weapons of mass destruction, Iraqis (probably) have weapons of mass destruction. Americans have a president, Iraqis have a president. Our president calls their president a liar, their president calls our president a liar. Our president is acting against the will of the UN, their president is acting against the will of the UN (if you believe the news we get). Our president has orderd terrorist attacks, their president has ordered terrorist attacks (again, if you believe OUR news). So what really was the difference?

You have found it: Freedom to leave the country (and even come back if you are a citizen, not just "people". It's "We the citizens", after all, not "we the people"). That really DOES make a big difference. I know, because my mother escaped a communist regime, risking her life and the lives of her family.

So wait a minute, you are comparing this situation to that of Hitlers?

Hitlers don't have much to do with situations like these. It's "we the people" who make it all possible. Do you think Saddam could have had all those people killed if he didn't have his followers to execute his orders? Do you think Hitler killed millions of people? Of course not, it's guys like you and me who were inherently violent and bloodthirsty, just waiting for someone to tell them it's okay to slaughter this one, he's one of the "bad guys".

rs7....I really miss the 60's. I hope in my mind I have not truly left them behind.
It is interesting being exposed to the cynical and critical younger generation on the chat boards. They really have their heads up their butts. No concept of truth or inner peace. They all grew up on video games. Maybe that is why they can look at pictures of a real war and not find it upsetting. Somewhere along the way they lost their souls.

Yeah well I believed in world peace up untill 9-11. When that happened all bets were off and the word peace was removed from my vocabulary.

Those followers are driven by fear, do you not know this?

I will be ashamed for saying that as soon as you explain to me how Saddam's daughters are not innocent and not civilians. They are women in a country where according to US media not even men have lots of freedoms. What crimes did his daughters commit? If you explain that, I will concede that our leader did not target innocent people. But even if they were criminals, they would still be civilians, and targetting them specifically with missiles would be an act of terrorism.

I was tempted to make a comment about your vocabulary, but you illustrate why people like Osama do what they do: It's because that seemingly was the only way to alert people like you to a great injustice that has been going on for decades.

The first bombing of the World Trade Center got me thinking about moving away from the chaos of NYC. One of the reasons I am in the Keys. I did not want to be around for the next time.
Has it hardened me to humanity? No, not at all.
We seemed to come together and show how much we all care cleaning up after that disaster. If nothing, it made me feel that I could count on my fellow man and he could count on me.

We will always have crazies in the world.
Does not make me cynical at all.
Look into yourself.:)

They may be some innocent people hangin out with somebody who is not that innocent who is the target of this campaign. This is war not tiddley winks!
