I've got a friend from the states who recently married a Canadian and moved up there. He now has free health care and LESS taxes taken from his paycheck.
 
if you want a well run health care system the french is very good. they work on the premises of you pay for it and you get reimbursed ninety percent. this puts off people who con the system because they contribute, but without the large part of the cost.
 
for starters, stop paying 100s of 1000s to doctors and get the lawyers out.

socialized medicine will not work in the united states because 2/3rds of our population is overweight which is the leading cause of most medical problems. If we were all skinny then socialized medicine would work well here and be very inexpensive for the government.
