Shut Down ARCA

Quote from C Robinson:

i think you may have confused what i was saying. i used arca to trade the spy's the other day...i had to wait 4 minutes to get confirmation that my order had been cancelled. the only other time i have had to wait so long for a fill/cancellation is when i used arca on a listed/nyse stock...i.e, the specialist could actually hold my arca order....i had no idea they could do this till I called our trading desk and they explained what had happened.

That's weird.because I trade SPY ...have been using ARCA lately because they've been faster than anyone else. I'm with the same firm you're with....there were bad lags in the ARCA book this morning....but other than today...I've actually been quite happy with ARCA and SPY combo.

You're in the ATL office? Any extra chairs for a week? I was thinking about visiting my friend down there for a week.
Happy Trading.

I think there will be a difference if you send an order that's inside the NBBO to ARCA. I'm pretty sure the software will "shop that order around" to different MMs, AMEX, etc. for price improvement, which is why you can get hung up. If you are outside of the quote, your order should go into the ARCA book. Those cnx's will be very quick, but those others can be held up by whomever they were "shopped" to.

(I don't trade on ARCA much, so take this for what it's worth... )

Use NOW orders instead to interact with electronic marketplaces. NEVER route to a non-electronic marketplace with ARCA unless you absolutely need to take out a regional exchange.

ITS participants have 30 seconds to do whatever they want with your order--which is an eternity.....but your 4-minute experience is an aberation.

There's somethin gwrong with the technical dept at ARCA. Many problems over a long period of time.

You'd think 10,000 Vic-20's multitasked would be able to handle the load.
