Well, it's not far-fetch to say scalping for 10 ES points these days is not out of the realm of possibility. If you're scalping all day, hell no, just let it go and wait for the next one.
If you have high opportunity cost, you chase the hell out of it since your R:R means that your few trades make your year.
1) There is already a STRONG trend in progress.
If the price came down to a tick or two away from your entry price before reversing, that already demonstrates that you know what you're doing. You don't need any luck. You just need to adjust your entry to catch the ride in the future.SHOULD YOU CHASE IT OR NOT? The thing is, do you feel lucky.
If I may share my opinion and what I did:
If you are a momentum or trend trader with a holding period of several weeks to months, what your buying price is is not that important. I mean, yes, price matters, but it's less relevant.
I personally buy at any price offered at that time. Why?
Because as a momentum trader, when I'm about to buy, I've basically somehow made a "prediction" that the price is going to go up. If I missed the quoted price at the time, I would lose momentum and end up badly by either missing the train or getting a much higher price.
What if the price drops?
That is the risk of momentum or trend traders. Not all trades will end up as winners. Therefore, I place positions based on volatility.
%%I ain't talking about whether price will or will nConsider it this way.
1) There is already a STRONG trend in progress.
2) You plan to get in at the pullback, so you place your bid a few ticks above the support.
3) Price does retrace, but it stops just a few ticks above your entry and reverses (so you miss the trade).
4) Once it reverses, it reverses hard. It instantly rips higher by at least a few points (for example, 5 points for ES or $1 or more for stocks).
5) You intuitively know that it's not coming back down.
6) knowing that, SHOULD YOU CHASE IT OR NOT?

But i may chase[edit chase a bit] once@ 50% size of what i want+ see what ''gets price proved. ''Do you really think seasoned traders chase?
And there folks, is someone who truly knows what they are doing!
If the entry is not filled you just place a market order, otherwise it means you have no confidence in the position and you will probably lose anyway,
I would feel sorry for the poor saps these days but given I used a hedge fund architecture to generate 30% on a small account yesterday, I truly couldn't care, actually it's better because it means more for the fewer, and who doesn't love that!
