Should Republicans Take Dem's First Offer?

Quote from AAAintheBeltway:

I don't know if it is or not. According to Drudge, they reinforced the barricades.
If you happen to hear anything on local news more detailed than what we're seeing nationally I'd love to hear about it.

They just shot and killed an apparently delusional woman here yesterday who had knocked over some temporary barriers at the White House then drove off. She had a baby in the car with her, but they spared it.
Did they, or did they just miss?

Their archaic response to that driver was like swatting a fly with a wrecking ball.

If I drew my pistol and shot that unarmed women under identical circumstances. I'd being getting crucified right now in the media. While wasting away in jail without bond and no hope of an unbiased local jury for my trial.

Quote from AAAintheBeltway:

While the democrats' public posture has been that they will not negotiate, that is becoming increasingly untenable. They are certainly not winning the PR battle with anyone who doesn't watch MSNBC, and they arguably are losing it.

Reid is smart enough not to reveal his cards, but there have been enough hints in the liberal press to reveal his strategy. Part of Obamacare involved an excise tax on medical devices, one of the few remaining industries the US is preeminent in. It is unpopular with not only republicans but with plenty of democrats as well, as they have device manufacturers in their districts.

The compromise being covertly floated is to repeal this tax in exchange for funding the remainder of Obamacare. It is being styled a win-win result, in that the republicans can claim a victory and the repeal is at least somewhat bipartisan.

No doubt the usual republican surrender monkeys are desperate to take this deal. Then they can safely get back to the business of selling out their constituents. But is it a good deal?

A basic rule of negotiating is to never accept the first offer. So just on that ground, the republicans should hold out for more. Beyond that, getting rid of a small tax seems like a mighty poor payoff for going all in. They risked getting smoked and have basically survived longer than most of them expected. The fact is, most voters are only dimly aware there is even a shutdown, and of the ones that are aware, a lot of them support it, if only on grounds of sticking it to federal bureaucrats.

So my advice is no, don't take this offer. The minimum I would accept is a delay of Obamacare until after the next election.

I would love to see scum like you haul your own garbage and do many of the things the government does.

Do clowns like you actually have any clue as to what you are FOR?!

I have always hated critics - they are the epitome of a coward!

Yet you have no problem criticizing me.

if these threads did not show up in google searches... and if political operatives did not check blogs... iceman might have a point.

we would just be arguing with a bunch of leftist drones.

But... et might be down to a just a few advertisers (i suspect because of the market not et) but it still gets noticed by google.

1. Private companies manage the garbage removal - a service that we pay for. I wasn't aware of free government trash removal. Can you show me how to get in on that?

2. As usual, you make a complete fool of yourself on this forum. Time to vanish, again. You've made your obligatory 6 month showing.

Crash and burn, iceman..
