Seeing as how Republicans have been forced to resign for less (i.e off color joke Trent Lott made at a birthday party) should Kerry be forced to resign for insulting US troops in his official capacity as a US Senator?

Lott didn't resign from the Senate, he just resigned as Leader of the Senate.
