Should fat people be forced to get a lap band procedure?

Is this a new tack for you, Optional? I mean, ordinarily you argue from a social structuralist perspective, but in this case you are not targeting those structures, for example the fast food companies that are getting kids on their junk early through sponsoring school lunch programs, but instead you are emphasizing action on the persons themselves, an individiualistic approach.

Quote from Gabfly1:

You confuse wheat and flour. Whole wheat is healthy except for those with Celiac disorder. Whole grain wheat should not be confused with whole wheat flour. Flour has more surface space, which contributes to insulin imbalance. Therefore, although whole wheat flour is healthier than refined flour, whole grains are healthier still. You're missing out.

high fives! :D

wow, mandatory surgery.??... performed by government administered healthcare?

that's pretty damned draconian??

"you only have a right to eat x amt" ???
"you only have a right to earn y amt"???

what does it matter if it's against their will?!

yah, i guess that whole free will thing is over rated huh??? as long as it fits your idea of utopia and serves the glorious state...

george orwell's imaginationsdoesn't have shit on your desires...
This from a man who voluntarily moved to a province with language police ("Tongue Troopers"). :D

It would only be mandatory for severely obese people, so since you think it would be mandatory for you...I have to assume you are morbidly obese...

Quote from Index piker:

Nonsense, you are ASSuming everyone who is obese needs the surgery, wants the surgery, will survive the surgery, risk of surgery is acceptable to you.

Evidently you seem to think it's as safe as having your ears pierced by persons with DMII, CAD, COPD, CHF etc etc.

I appreciate your concern but I'll pass on the mandatory lap band procedure.

We need to make the fast food pushers more accountable for the 'death on a plate' they routinely serve up. The double cheeseburger is just as addicting as tobacco and we need laws protecting us from it :D
