Should Americans be ashamed of their country for not talking care of their allies in Afghanistan?

Pentagon says Kabul airport is secure, plans to evacuate 5,000 to 9,000 people per day

The U.S. military has secured the airport in Kabul and resumed flights evacuating civilians and diplomats after the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan, the Pentagon said Tuesday.

At a briefing in Washington, U.S. officials said that approximately 3,500 troops were on the ground at Kabul's Hamid Karzai International Airport as of Tuesday morning, with 500 more expected by the end of the day.

Flights were halted Monday as thousands of people rushed the tarmac in desperate attempts to flee. Videos posted to social media showed Afghans clinging to a departing U.S. Air Force C-17 transport plane. Others showed planes overloaded with Afghans, who flooded across the runway to board them.

American pilots were true heroes.

God bless these pilots. They took off with risks to themselves and likely without authorization.

A C-17A Globemaster theoretically can carry a maximum 171,000 pounds of cargo, just enough for 800 persons averaging 200 pounds each. But in terms of space, it's only designed to seat 134 soldiers with their equipment.

Hero pilot did some quick math and decided to press.

The C-17 is such a strong ship. I originally got my GA license at Daugherty Field (Long Beach Airport) and C-17s operate there. I've had to take off in their wake turbulence, a few times at night. I would rather take off behind a 747 than a C-17 lol. They are just wicked powerful.

Weight wise I think they were ok based on the article but having all those people shoulder to shoulder during turbulence and take off and descent must have been pretty intense. With soldiers strapped into seats you can take some liberties with the aircraft but not 650 people holding on to a strap...

Yeah pretty wild trying to stand there, plus the military departures from Kabul are so freaking aggressive, steep climb and hard turns.

He must have taken it easy knowing he had loose cargo that could shift like that 747 full of tanks in Kabul.

For shits and giggles, as the pilot, I would have done a steep dive while at altitude, to watch them all gasp as they caught some zero-G air. Or maybe porpoise the airplane for a while. What a hilarious sight that would have been.

Welcome to freedom! This is what you will get to experience at one of our Six Flags parks you will be able to attend on the taxpayer dollars, you grubs!
