I have read the first post and this page..quick question why are you SS this stock for 5 months?

I would SS it soon because it is an early cycle cyclical; and maybe swap soon out to a late cycle cyclical like IP ....

But to fight this for 5 months makes no sense?

Pls explain to me?

PS Not Long CAT; Not SS either ...but waiting for 10Y to > 4.50%.

Hi David,

in order to make some profits. Well, profits have been small in CAT, but I ended every trade in CAt in the green so far. In addition, I always try to make my portfolio long/short neutral, so short positions are always something like a hedge to me.

In 2003 my performance in stocks was well above 100%(with more than 1.000 trades and of course after transaction costs). I was critizied very much for the CAT trade here on ET, but I guess 95% of the traders here didn't achieve a better performance.

This is a gain of 2.9%. While others keep on criticizing my trading style I keep on making money.

But for sure, others will still say that my trades only consist of luck and that I'm on a sure way to self destruction. Do you know how many trades I posted here on ET successfully?

I'm glad you made money. On the other hand, simply buying CAT back on July 23 and holding it till Jan 5/04 produced a profit of 20.31 from close to close.
