Quote from clacy:
Obviously, but ask yourself why every oppressive government would do that? Why would they want to limit speech and gun ownership? Is is for their citizens safety, or so that they can consolidate and retain power?
Why is it that the left is always pushing for tighter gun control and ways to limit speech (fairness doctrine, etc)? These two things always go together it seems.
I find it hilarious that the left was no where to be found when there was "vitriolic rhetoric" directed toward Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld. However, when the Dems are in charge, we're all supposed to embrace change, come together and support the President. Anyone who communicates their dissatisfaction with the direction of our country/policy is "full of hate and vitriol".
I contend that is the exact mindset, that ultimately allows an oppressive government to take hold.
Again, great post!
Here's an example for those who think we should be allowed to have ONE flintloc, while Glocks, and AR-15's are banned:
The man who basically raised me passed away at 79 in July. He was a US Army Korean War Veteran, and retired State Police Trooper (retired in 1978.)
When he was a kid in school, him and his friends walked to school together. They carried their shotguns to school, unloaded them and put them in the Principal's office until the bell rang. They would collect their shotguns, and squirrel hunt on their way home.
He often said, "that same weapon I used to take to school is the same one it is today. The gun hasn't changed... People have."
I worked my way through College as a Police Officer, and have ALWAYS encouraged law abiding, common sense people to own firearms as they are they only thing standing between freedom and anarchy... With an unarmed population (and it starts with banning Glocks, etc.,), the gubment can do absolutely anything they want to do to us. Wake us America!
Last, I just bought 55 Glock hi cap mags for an average cost of $24 each. In six months, these will pay off nicely as human emotion takes over, and people begin to panic wanting what was once legal to own...
When slick willy banned anything holding over 10 rounds in 1994, the glock mags went from $19-20 each to $129-149 each in a year...
